Are You Ready for AI Powered AV Design?

Like many AV manufacturers and integrators, our engineers and designers have traditionally used manual processes to create network and AV system designs for our clients. These include the things you’d expect - network schematics, signal flow diagrams, the calculation of network bandwidth and compatibility requirements, and even the compilation Bills of Materials.  But in order to produce these, they have to go through laborious diagrammatical and spreadsheet work, not to mention the technicians having to troubleshoot systems reactively when failures occurred.

These practices, although effective till now, can limit traditional AV project management methodologies. They are, essentially, labour-intensive methods and so can result in reducing organisational capability, add human error, and can produce bottlenecks that raise costs and delay project completion.

These limitations are now being addressed by the development of AI-enhanced AV solutions, which use intelligent automation to do any repetitive operations with the precision and speed that human cannot compete with. Through predictive analytics possible system problems can be detected before they affect operations, and automated AV workflow tools provide precise  documentation in significantly shorter time instead of days, and machine learning models trained on a large number of design scenarios suggest the best equipment configurations.

AI-powered AV design using freely available AI tools, or of course AI software specifically designed for the AV industry, is a significant advancement above conventional CAD-based AV design tools, such as our FRDesigner software. Crucial elements such as signal compatibility, network bandwidth needs, and industry best practices are all considered and analysed by these intelligent platforms in addition to geometry and connectivity.

They are inherently capable of simultaneously optimising configurations for cost and performance, together with evaluating designs against standards, and automatically develop professional-grade AV engineering workflows. This AI-driven AV workflow business capability can only result in providing quicker proposal turnaround, more precise pricing, and better system dependability.

This is not to say that AI however is exclusively used to fully design an AV network system. There is still some requirement for human-led engineering know-how and experience to produce a functional system design to satisfy an AV, IPTV, IP network or FTTH based project requirement. However, the strategic use of AI does to optimise certain elements such as automating documentation processes (BOM, signal flow diagrams, rack designs) helping streamline the equipment selection process (by evaluating large product databases efficiently) and offering alternative options for designs and concepts by quickly analysing project factors such as user numbers, their requirements and the building or campus environment (distances, room sizes etc)

Simply put, AI-powered AV design platforms redefine how a system design can be used to help our clients, such as consultants, integrators and installers create, calculate, and collaborate on audiovisual projects.
